Images from the first Black Lives Matter protest in London — a moment of unity, resistance and the beginning of my visual activism.

I Can’t Breathe

I Can’t Breathe is a video composed of selected images from the first Black Lives Matter protest in London, held outside the US Embassy during the COVID lockdowns. Despite restrictions and risk, thousands came together with one voice — unified by grief, anger and a shared demand for justice.

Being there channelled my anger at the murder of George Floyd and marked a turning point in my work. This moment compelled me to use my camera not just to document, but to amplify voices — including my own — against racial injustice and in defence of civil rights. The images in this video represent the beginning of my commitment to visual activism: bearing witness, standing in solidarity, and ensuring these moments are neither silenced nor forgotten.
