Divided Streets
Three Tribes is a documentary photography project drawn from three different — and opposing — protests that took place on the same day in London. Moving between an antifascist mobilisation, a right-wing demonstration led by Tommy Robinson, and a trans rights protest, I documented how belief, identity and power are expressed on the streets in radically different ways.
This collection is not about endorsement, but about observation and proximity. I worked on the ground, listening and responding in real time, capturing moments that reveal tension, vulnerability and conviction across all three gatherings. By placing these movements side by side, the work exposes sharp contrasts in language, symbolism and emotion, while also reflecting how public space becomes a contested site of expression.
Three Tribes is an attempt to create an honest visual record of a divided moment — one shaped by opposing ideologies, competing narratives and the shared act of protest. Through a documentary approach rooted in presence and ethical distance, the project invites viewers to look beyond headlines and consider how collective identity is performed, challenged and witnessed in the same city, on the same day.
