Sky Bridge was made during Wayne Crichlow's early years of street photography, almost a decade ago, as he began exploring the relationship between people, architecture and the spaces they move through.
Photographed at the distinctive spiral footbridge in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, the sweeping structure dominates the frame, transforming an everyday pedestrian crossing into something almost abstract. Against its strong lines and curves, a solitary figure introduces a small but important human presence.
Rather than simply documenting the bridge, Sky Bridge is about the relationship between the figure and the space around them — a fleeting moment where architecture, geometry and observation come together.
Made during a formative period in Wayne's photographic practice, Sky Bridge formed part of the portfolio he submitted during his application to Sky Arts' Master of Photography, where he went on to become a finalist in Series 3 in 2018.
Offered as a limited fine-art edition of 15, each print is individually signed and numbered by Wayne Crichlow and supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity.
