Photographed in black and white, the image layers reflection, gesture and everyday activity. At the centre of the composition, a woman looks outward while figures, surfaces and the working environment of the café overlap around her.
Made during a formative period in Wayne Crichlow's street photography practice, The Café became an important image in his developing career. The photograph was Commended in the Open Competition of the Sony World Photography Awards 2017 and later formed part of the portfolio Wayne submitted during his application to Sky Arts' Master of Photography, where he went on to become a finalist in Series 3 in 2018.
Offered as a limited fine-art edition of 15, each print is individually signed and numbered by Wayne Crichlow and supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity.
